Cliffside Wedding in the Cape Breton Highlands

Our first blog post of the New Year is taking us back to one of our first weddings of the season this past summer at The Highlands at Keltic Lodge.

Alicia & Trevor’s wedding took place in the Highlands of Cape Breton, which is just under a 5 hour drive one way from our little home studio in Dartmouth. It was one of the first weddings after we had another season of early postponements due to the pandemic and James and I were really looking forward to the trip.

We loaded up our car packed with flowers, vessels, supplies and made our way through the Cabot Trail. It’s been years since I’ve made this drive and was an incredible reminder of how lucky we are to live in a province as beautiful as Nova Scotia.

After many stops to sightsee  along the way we arrived at our cabin along the trail which had breathtaking views of the water, trees and mountains. I spent nearly the entire night putting together all the arrangements and bouquets so everything would look perfect for the next morning. I absolutely love getting to travel to new places to design weddings and this one will likely always stay in my heart.

The next day we arrived at the venue to drop off personal flowers, install the ceremony arrangements and set up the reception space with Katelyn of Elegant Productions. Brittany Macleod did an incredible job of capturing their beautiful day in the photos to follow.
